It is so refreshing to disconnect once in a while. My weekend away from the computer ended up being one of the most fun and productive I've had in a while. After we made complete fools of ourselves bowling, we took on a DIY for our empty mantel.
My original plan was to use this tutorial from The Glamourai. I stocked up on everything she used but as I was going through an inspiration folder I came across this piece from Dwell Studio. I had the piece pinned for the mantel but there was no chance I was going to pay $895. Plan B, I used the duct tape I purchased for the tumbling block art and enlisted RP's engineer brain to make the Turot pattern a reality.
To start we were cutting each piece of duct tape in half, cutting the edge to a 45 degree angle and placing them together like a puzzle. About half way through, we realized each piece of tape could be the length of the canvas and we could cut to 45 degrees where the pieces overlapped. If you decide to use the longer pieces of tape, be sure not to press too hard with the X-acto knife because you can cut through the canvas. Once the piece is done, use the black tape to tape off the edges.
The mantel still needs some TLC but I'm loving the addition. Did you guys do any fun projects over the weekend?

I cannot believe that you did this! It looks so good!! Nice job!
